Paracycling: Ghana's Alem Mumuni Ranked 2nd Best In The World

Reigning African C2 Paracycling Champion, Alem Mumuni, has been ranked 2nd in the world following his sterling performance at the just-ended World Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal race in Canada and USA.

In the latest rankings of the Union Cycliste International (UCI), the International Cycling Union, Alem placed 2nd, with 21 points behind Venezuela's Victor Hugo Carrido Marquez.

Alem won bronze at the World Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal race in Canada and placed 5th in another race in the US.

The current African champion has defended his African position on three occasions and this ranking re-affirms his position as the best in the C2 category in Africa.

His colleague, Ernest Yaw Ayisi, who also took part in the races, placed 5th in the world ranking, having placed 6th and 7th in the US and Canadian competitions respectively.

Under the auspices of his foundation, the Alem Foundation, Alem Mumuni would be addressing the media at a press conference on Friday.

The latest ranking raises hi profile to that of the elite in the competition, whilst placing the name of Ghana on the UCI map.

The duo travelled to the competitions under difficult conditions; but for the intervention of organizations like Discovery Group. Pippa's Fitness Centre and other individuals, they could have missed the races.
